ASSERTIVE / PLANNING PERSPECTIVE
Check the PPO License
California security companies that provide guards must hold a private patrol operator (PPO) license from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Search the company name or license number in the Department of Consumer Affairs License Search and confirm the status is current. Assertive's license is PPO #16736.
Check Officer Registration
Individual security guards must hold a BSIS guard registration, and armed officers also need a firearms permit. The same state license search can be used to look up individual registrations.
Request Insurance Documents
Ask the provider for a certificate of insurance and review it with your insurer or risk team, including any additional-insured requirements in your contract. Requirements vary by client and contract.
